Everyday there are more and more cases of Covid-19 being reported. Which is making us want to skip even the quickest trip to the supermarket. Last week we ran out of bread and since that was really the only thing we were wanting at the store we decided to break out the crockpot again. Our crockpot Vegan Banana Bread got so good we thought we’d try making our French Country White Bread in the crockpot too! (For the recipe to our Vegan Banana Bread, follow the link…https://thebunniespatch.home.blog/2020/03/18/vegan-banana-bread/ ) Yes, banana bread and a loaf of white bread has different textures and different ingredients but why not give it a try, right? Amazingly enough, it came out fantastic!! It’s soft in the center and crusty on the outside. Perfect to use for toast with jam, to make french toast in the morning (or afternoon..) and is a yummy sandwich bread. Plus, this recipe is great to prepare at night and let rise while sleeping. It only takes about 2-3 hour to bake in the crockpot and you have fresh homemade bread for the week. If it lasts that long. Because it is just that good. So, let’s get cooking.

FRENCH COUNTRY WHITE BREAD
INGREDIENTS:
*3½ cups flour
*1 envelope of yeast
*1tsp salt
*1½ cups very warm water.
METHOD:
*In a large bowl add flour, yeast and salt. Slowly add water. Stirring with a wooden spoon until a ball forms.
*Lightly flour hands, knead dough about 2 minutes until dough becomes smooth.
*Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a separate mixing bowl with oil.
*Form dough into a ball and place into a greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow it to rise at least 8 hours or overnight in a warm area.
*After rising time, lightly punch dough down and form into a ball.
*Preheat the crockpot on high, spray with cooking spray…place parchment paper in pot and spray paper, then place dough in pot. Cover the pot with a few paper towels and place the lid on pot. Cook for 2- 3 hrs. Do not lift the lid before 2 hours. When done, place bread on a cooling rack, completely cool.
*Slice and ENJOY!
This is great! I was on the hunt for bread for awhile and finally found some. Saving this recipe for later

Thank you so much! 😊 Nutritional yeast is Not the same as active dry yeast. You can substitute 1¼ teaspoon baking soda with 1 teaspoon lemon juice for the active dry yeast. We haven’t tried this in this recipe yet. Not sure how it will work in the Crockpot. This method is usually best for an oven. If you try it, please let us know. Would love to know how it worked out! ♥️

This bread actually looks really good. And no whole wheat so yay! I’ve only ever made bread once. It wasn’t the greatest. Haha
